Glastonbury-based insurance firm Smith Brothers is expanding its presence in Massachusetts.
In a statement, the company said it has acquired the Oxford Insurance Agency in Oxford, Massachusetts, just south of Worcester, bringing its number of locations in that state from two to three. All Oxford employees will join Smith Brothers, and Brian Ravenelle, who was CEO of Oxford Insurance, will become a partner of Smith Brothers.
A purchase price was not disclosed.
“Oxford Insurance brings us expanded presence in Massachusetts and allows personal and commercial clients of Oxford Insurance to gain access to additional carriers, coverages and risk management services,” said Smith Brothers President and CEO Joe B. Smith. “Those who own or operate a business will benefit from additional value-added services such as human resources, employee well-being, safety, compliance and financial services. Both agencies have strong ties to serve our clients and give back to the communities where we live and work.”
Smith Brothers, which was formed in Hartford in 1971, has over 200 employees across the Northeast.
According to its website, the agency currently has locations in Glastonbury, Chester, Niantic, Somers and Windsor Locks; in Easthampton and Milford, Massachusetts; in Owego, Vestal and Waverly, New York; and in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
