Glastonbury’s Smith Brothers expands into N.Y.

Glastonbury-based insurance broker Smith Brothers has expanded its footprint with another acquisition in New York.

Smith Brothers on Friday announced it acquired The Partners Insurance Agency, an independent firm with offices in Vestal, Owego, and Waverly. Financial terms for the deal completed Jan. 1 were not disclosed.

The deal marks the Glastonbury agency’s third acquisition since April 2018. Smith Brothers at the timepurchased Groton’s Bailey Agencies Insurance and a month later acquired West Springfield-based G.M. Abodeely Insurance Agency.

As part of the deal, The Partners will maintain its New York presence following the combination and its owners — Don Patterson, Bill Soprano, Phil Wiles, John Carlin, Michael Constantine, and Chris Hutchings — will remain engaged in client service and business development.

Headquartered at 68 National Dr. in Glastonbury, Smith Brothers has offices throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

The business was founded in Hartford in 1971 by brothers Bob and Brian Smith, and today employ more than 200 workers.
