Glastonbury’s SLAM acquires national architectural firm

Glastonbury architecture firm S/L/A/M Collaborative says it’s acquired five design practices owned by an Atlanta-based architectural design firm.

SLAM this week announced it bought five CBRE | Heery architectural design practices focused on health care, sports facilities and justice designs for an undisclosed sum. The deal was completed March 6.

As part of the acquisition, about 70 Heery employees will be added to SLAM’s staff of 210. The Heery outfits, located in Denver, Iowa City and Philadelphia, will now be known as “Heery Design, a SLAM Studio,” officials say.

“Adding Heery design professionals to our team of talented and diverse professionals, enhances our deep expertise in critical segments of the market and doubles our number of offices – all in one move,” said SLAM President Robert F. Pulito.

CBRE | Heery, formerly known as Heery International Inc., was founded in the early 1950s, according to its website.

The firm recently supported design planning for several notable projects across the country, including the 71,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, and the 41,000-seat Truist Park, home of MLB’s Atlanta Braves.
