Melzen Farm Supply, a family-owned and operated agricultural store in Glastonbury that opened in 1920, will close next month, the business announced on its Facebook page.
The owners, Kenny, Jimmy and John Melzen, said they’re looking forward to retirement. The store’s last day of business will be Nov. 12.
“It has been our family’s privilege to serve our many customers in Glastonbury and across the state over the years,” the announcement says.
The current owners’ grandfather, Stanley Melzen, opened the business in 1920 shortly after immigrating from Poland. He passed the store on to their father, Joe Sr.
“We are sincerely grateful to our customers, many of whom have become close friends over the years,” the announcement continues. “We deeply appreciate our employees, as well as our many suppliers. Melzen’s would not have thrived for over a century without your loyalty and support.”
