Glastonbury-based PW Power Systems Inc. has agreed to deliver two gas turbine units to the General Electric Company of Libya (GECOL).
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PW Power Systems provides gas turbine packages and gas turbine aftermarket, engineering and other services to the power generation industry. PWPS is a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., a heavy machinery manufacturer headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
The U.S. company Power & Water Alliance LLC will install the units in Tripoli as part of a turnkey agreement with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in support of the Qatar government’s humanitarian efforts to support the people of Libya.
The gas turbines will power hospitals and community care centers, as well as provide energy for the general population, said PWPS President Peter Christman.
GECOL will own and operate the gas turbines which will run on diesel fuel oil and are expected to be operational in the spring of 2017.
