Glastonbury energy construction firm Gemma Power Systems has synchronized a 49.9 megawatt Texas power plant with the electric grid, two years after construction began.
Gemma constructed the Woodville Renewable Power Project for the East Texas Electric Cooperative. The plant runs on chipped forest waste and has been receiving fuel since May.
Construction of the project began in May 2012. The plant is undergoing final performance testing before enter commercial operation later this year.
Gemma will operate the plant under a separate contract through its Gemma Plant Operations subsidiary.
