Glastonbury energy contractor lands key role on North Carolina project

Glastonbury’s Gemma Power Systems said it has been hired to oversee the building of a 475-megawatt power plant in North Carolina.

The natural-gas-fired plant, owned by an affiliate of NTE Energy, will be located in Reidsville, N.C., approximately 20 miles south of the Virginia border. The project will cost $450 million, Greensboro.com reported last year.

It’s the third plant NTE has hired Gemma to oversee, under an engineering, procurement and construction contract.

The others, both slated for completion this year, are in Kings Mountain, N.C., and Middletown, Ohio.
