A limited liability company tied to West Springfield-based auto sales giant Balise recently paid $5.53 million for a Glastonbury property anchored by a car wash.
Balise paid more than three times the amount the property last fetched two years ago, when it was purchased by a Greenwich-based limited liability company.
BW Glastonbury RE LLC paid $1.5 million in January 2022 for the 5,080-square-foot car wash building on 1.4 acres at 70 Oak St., according to town records. The concrete and cinder block building was completed in 2020, according to assessing records.
BW Glastonbury RE LLC sold the property to Balise-affiliated BAR CW Glastonbury LLC for $5.53 million in a sale that was recorded by the town on Dec. 21.
The seller is registered in Delaware but shares a Glastonbury address with BW Glastonbury LLC, whose principals are Delaware-registered Bold Wash Operations LLC and David Shi, of Glastonbury.
The buyer shares a West Springfield address with Balise Motor Sales Co. The principals of BAR CW Glastonbury LLC. are James E. Balise Jr. and Timothy Ingerson. Balise is president of Balise Motor Sales. Ingerson is treasurer and secretary of the company.
On its website, Balise describes itself as a third-generation, family-owned company founded in 1919. It has grown from a small one-garage operation in western Massachusetts to 24 new- and used-car dealerships in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
It also operates Flash Car Wash, which operates nine car wash locations in Connecticut, in Vernon, Waterbury (two sites), Wallingford, New Britain, Middletown, Meriden, Cromwell and Bridgeport. According to its website, it will soon open a car wash at 16 Fenn Road, in Newington, and another at 70 Oak St. in Glastonbury.
Another Balise-affiliated LLC paid $2.4 million for a recently completed car wash building at 16 Fenn Road in Newington in December of 2022.Â
