GE’s $89M gas-turbine contract to Bangladesh

Fairfield’s General Electric Co. won contracts worth $89 million to supply gas turbines to Bangladesh to light thousands more homes and businesses in the south Asian nation, authorities say.

GE said its Frame 9F 3-series gas turbines will be used for two new power plants that will produce 675 megawatts of power.

One of the turbines will go to Spanish contractor Isolux Ingenieria SA, building the Siddirganj Power Plant for Electric Generation Co. of Bangladesh Ltd.

The second turbine will go to Summit Corp., an independent power producer building a new plant in Bibiyana, GE said.
