Gerber Scientific Inc. will move by fall its Gerber Innovations division from outside Boston to the parent’s proposed new corporate base in Tolland.
The maker of automated manufacturing equipment announced last week plans to move its 600 workers from its ancestral South Windsor headquarters to its Gerber Technology building in Tolland.
Gerber said relocating Gerber Innovations from Wilmington, Mass., by Sept. 30 will cost about $1.1 million but the savings will recoup those costs in just over a year, said CEO Marc Giles.
The innovations unit is part of Gerber’s sign-making and specialty graphics segment.
