General Visits Boys and Girls Club

General Colin Powell recently visited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford’s Asylum Hill Club on Sigourney Street. Upon his arrival, Powell toured the facility with the kids who enjoy the club each day. The young tour guides, Mara (11) and Marcus (12) explained to their guest why the club is important to them and their friends, emphasizing the need for a safe place play after school. After the tour, Powell met with 70 youth members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford. Kids had an opportunity to ask Powell questions and open up a general dialogue with him. Questions ranged from Powell’s favorite sports team, to his best memory in the White House, to what advice he would give to the next generation of leaders.
