A retail building in Fairfield’s Southport neighborhood is slated for a new general store and restaurant concept.
Southport Village Properties LLC, controlled by Kerri Miller and Adam Gray, both of Southport,
purchased the one-story, 5,818-square-foot building at 327 Pequot Ave. late last year for $2.66 million, according to land records.
Miller said the owners plan to open a Southport General Store along with RoseHill Kitchen, a 26-seat restaurant, in the space. The property was previously occupied by Driftwood Sandwich Shop and Spic and Span Market.
“It’s all very exciting,” Miller told the Hartford Business Journal.
Stewart-Schafer LLC, an interior design firm led by co-founders James Veal and Christine Stucker, has filed an application with Fairfield’s Plan and Zoning Commission seeking approval for facade modifications to accommodate the new tenants.
“The proposed work consists of a modest exterior refresh to the existing commercial building within the Business Design District,” the application stated. “The scope is limited to facade improvements and does not include any change of use, expansion of the building footprint or modifications to the site layout.”
Plans also call for the addition of a mural intended to highlight Southport’s character and community history.
Calls seeking comment from Stucker and Veal were not immediately returned.
