GE to open $1.5M Plainville product center

The industrial solutions division of Fairfield conglomerate General Electric on Friday will open a $1.5 million, 17,000-square-foot New Product Innovation Center in Plainville.

The NPI Center features a team room, machine shop, product tear down area and pilot-run production area that will enable GE engineers to design, develop and deliver new products more efficiently.

GE Industrial Solutions will host students from Plainville High School and University High School for Science and Engineering to celebrate the opening.

The celebration Friday at 41 Woodford Avenue in Plainville will have a mini-sailboat building and racing completion for students, followed by a demonstration of a robot they built under the guidance of GE engineers earlier this year.
