GE stocked with plastic

In an $11.6 billion deal, Fairfield-based General Electric Co. has sold its plastics business to Saudi Basic Industries Corp., a petrochemicals manufacturer. The plastics business supplied resins used in the automotive, health care, electronics, construction and telecom industries. The proceeds from the sale will go to GE’s stock buyback program.
