GE signs alternative vehicle deal with Ford

Fairfield conglomerate General Electric on Tuesday announced a new collaboration with Detroit auto maker Ford Motor Co. to exchange plug-in hybrids for infrastructure promotion.

GE will purchase 2,000 of the new Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids for its fleet while Ford with market GE alternative fuel infrastructure solutions, with includes an electric vehicle charging station and a compressed natural gas fueling station.

GE plans to convert half of its global fleet to alternative vehicles. The Ford purchase brings the alternative fleet total to 5,000 toward the goal of 25,000.

Ford also will provide alternative vehicles for GE’s Vehicle Innovation Center in Minnesota, allowing commercial customers to learn about the options available in cars and trucks.
