Fund offers tips to improve energy efficiency

In an effort to reduce the more than $200 billion spent by U.S. businesses annually on energy; the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund is offering tips for companies to save money and help the environment.

Install new style fluorescent lamps and occupancy sensors to automatically turn off lighting when no one is present.

Perform regular maintenance on cooling equipment; use a programmable thermostat; and buy high-efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Check for broken seals on refrigeration equipment. Shut off compressed air systems over nights and weekends.
