Danbury’s FuelCell Energy said it has signed an agreement with Pfizer to install and maintain a 5.6-megawatt fuel cell system at the pharma giant’s 160-acre Groton campus.
The two companies have signed a power-purchase agreement under which Pfizer will buy the power and steam produced by the combined-heat-and-power (CHP) system for 20 years.
The CHP-configured plant is expected to be operational by this summer. It will increase electric reliability at Pfizer’s campus and will avoid creating 5,300 cars worth of carbon dioxide.
