FuelCell promotes Rauseo to COO

FuelCell Energy Inc. announced Tuesday the promotion of its chief engineer Anthony (Tony) Rauseo to the new post of chief operating officer at the Danbury maker of turbine generators.

Rauseo is charged with meshing FuelCell’s manufacturing operations with its supply chain, while overseeing product development and quality. He reports directly to CEO R. Daniel Brdar.

Rauseo was vice president of engineering since joining FuelCell in 2005. He cut production costs while improving the reliability of operations and product quality, Brdar said.

Before FuelCell, Rauseo held a variety of key management positions in manufacturing, quality and engineering. He was with Wallingford manufacturer CiDRA Corp. for five years, and with Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford for 17 years, developing aircraft turbines.

He has a BS in mechanical engineering from Rutgers University and an MS in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports FuelCell signed a contract to procure fuel cell stack module assembly and conditioning equipment to sell to its South Korean partner, POSCO Power.

FuelCell said under a separate contract, POSCO Power has ordered a 300 kilowatt power generation system. POSCO Power, FuelCell’s South Korean partner, began construction of a fuel cell stack assembly plant in South Korea in April.

The plant is expected to have annual production capacity of 100 megawatts, and to be completed by December. The South Korean Government is providing financial support for the purchase of this fuel cell power plant and associated development activities, FuelCell said in a statement.
