In 2013, Danbury clean power manufacturer FuelCell Energy had its best financial year in the past five, losing $37.6 million.
Like all other fuel cell companies, FuelCell energy has never turned a profit, but its $37.6 million loss in 2013 was the lowest the company has had since 2009, according to its filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.
The company lost $38.7 million in 2012, it lost $57.9 million in 2011, $58.9 million in 2010, and $71.9 million in 2009.
FuelCell CEO Chip Bottone has stated numerous times his goal is to have the company become the first fuel cell manufacturer to turn a profit.
In 2013, the company had its highest revenues at $187.7 million, including setting new highs for product sales, service agreements, and advanced technology contracts.
The net loss for the year attributable to shareholders was 20 cents per share.
