Danbury clean energy manufacturer FuelCell Energy decreased its loses in the fourth quarter, but the company still continues to operate in the red when it had hoped to be in the black sometime in 2013.
The company lost $10.5 million in the fourth quarter, or 6 cents per share, vs. the $12.1 million, or 7 cents per share, lost in the fourth quarter 2012.
FuelCell President and CEO Chip Buttone has made it a priority to make his company the first fuel cell manufacturer in the world to operate with a profit. He had hoped to have a profitable quarter by the end of 2013.
The company did set record revenues for the fiscal year 2013. Its revenues of $187.7 million were an increase of 56 percent over the $120.6 million in the fiscal year 2012.
