Danbury fuel cell power plant maker FuelCell Energy Inc. cut its losses in its third quarter as revenue grew 80 percent, the company reported.
FuelCell reported a loss of $5.6 million on revenue of $53.7 million, compared to a loss of $9.9 million on revenue of $29.7 million.
The company’s product and service backlog as of July 31 was $380.8 million, up from $172 million in the third quarter of 2012. The company said the backlog growth was due to fuel cell kit orders by Posco Energy as well as a planned fuel cell park in Bridgeport.
For the first nine months of 2013, FuelCell has lost $24.7 million on $132.5 million in revenue.
