Frito-Lay to open Killingly CNG station

PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay will be breaking ground on a compressed natural gas station at its Killingly facility, along with other locations across the country after unveiling its first in Beloit, Wis.

PepsiCo is in an effort to expand its fleet of the natural gas-using trucks to make up 20 percent of its entire fleet, according to a report, requiring more fueling stations along their routes.

Natural gas provider Questar Fueling will be responsible for building the Killingly station along with another station in Topeka, Kan.

The new CNG stations will be in operation for Frito-Lay trucks as well as for any other company currently using or considering trucks that can operate on the alternative fuel.

Other new Frito-Lay CNG fueling stations will be located in Jonesboro, Ark.; Orlando, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; Rosenberg, Texas; and Perry, Ga.
