Mission: The mission of the Friends of The Mark Twain House & Museum is to support the house and museum through fundraising and various volunteer efforts.
Background: The Friends of The Mark Twain House & Museum is a volunteer organization that has supported the museum for more than 50 years. Through their fundraising efforts since 1967, the organization has contributed more than $1 million to the operating funds of the museum and house.
Various fundraising events are held throughout the year.
Major Fund Raiser: The Annual Holiday House Tour is held the first Sunday of December. This year, the 29th Annual Holiday House Tour will be on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Advance tickets cost $30 each. Tickets will be available for $35 per person on the day of the Dec. 6 tour at several homes in the area. The featured homes will be the Mark Twain House and five beautiful, private homes located in West Hartford and Hartford. The homes will be decorated for the holidays and feature live music.
Volunteer Needs: The Friends’ organization always is interested in having new members join. The Friends meet on the second Monday of each month at the Mark Twain House & Museum.
