FRIENDS HELP REIN’S DELI TURN 40

Lisa Gerrol, president of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, serves coffee to Cal and Jeannie Peterka during lunch hour at Rein’s New York Style Deli in Vernon Oct. 16. Gerrol joined other chapter staff who volunteered busing tables and serving desserts as part of the restaurant’s 40th anniversary celebration. The Peterkas, on a pit stop while traveling from their home in Portsmouth, N.H., to their destination in New York, say they make it a point to stop at Rein’s Deli whenever they travel through Connecticut. A part of the proceeds from the weeklong celebration will benefit the fight against multiple sclerosis, a disease Eric Rein, 57, son of deli founders Bob and Betty Rein, has battled since 2000.
