The Internal Revenue Service has online tax preparation services that are a free and safe alternative for Connecticut taxpayers to use and are designed to streamline the filing process.
Due to a calendar quirk, this year’s tax-filing deadline is April 18.
One website; http://www.freefile.irs.gov/, allows taxpayers to file their federal taxes online for free. The website allows those earning less than $58,000 in gross income a year free access to name brand tax preparation software.
For those making over $58,000 a year, the website offers free forms that can be filled out and submitted online. To file taxes online with the state of Connecticut, taxpayers are encouraged to visit https://drsindtax.ct.gov/.
