Free income-tax filing services will be open to eligible Hartford area residents from Saturday through the April 15 filing deadline.
Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Hartford Public Library Downtown, 500 Main St., welcomes walk-in tax filers as part of “Dollars and Sense Day.”
Households with incomes up to $53,000 can get free help to prepare and file their tax returns from an IRS-certified volunteer. Or, filers with incomes up to $60,000 can file online using MyFreeTaxes.com.
Dollars and Sense Day is part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, supported by the City of Hartford, United Way and The Village for Families & Children in Hartford.
VITA free tax-preparation sites also are open in Enfield, Manchester, New Britain, Vernon, West Hartford, Windsor Locks and the Windham region now through April 15.
