Foxwoods vendor offers pay-by-smartphone

One of the highest profile operators of Foxwoods Resort Casino non-gaming amenities is allowing customers to pay by smartphone.

Boston-based Big Night Entertainment Group launched its Tabbedout application for mobile phones so customers at bowling alley High Rollers and restaurants The Scorpion Bar and the Shrine Asian Kitchen & Lounge can monitor their tabs and cash out when ready.

“Eventually, everybody is going to pay via cell phone,” said Randy Greenstein, principal at Big Night. “We wanted to be the first restaurant group in Connecticut to offer it, especially at the casino.”

With Tabbedout — an app available for free for iPhones and Android smartphones — users can view in real time the amounts they owe on food and alcohol, linked directly to the business’ computer system. When customers want to pay their bill, they can pay via their phone with a credit card number.

The app makes it more convenient and speedy for customers to pay their bill, Greenstein said, instead of waiting around for the bartender or server to take their payment.

Tabbedout offers Big Night another tool as well, as it can market products to customers while they are using the app.

“It is something exciting for people,” Greenstein said.
