Foxwoods Resort Casino has unveiled a major renovation to its Fox Tower property, including upgraded hotel rooms, a gaming “innovation zone,” and a new restaurant and nightclub.
The announcements were part of the resort’s weekend celebration of its 34th anniversary.
The Fox Tower was first built in 2008, and renovations have been going on to its 823 hotel rooms for the last two years. The work will continue throughout this year and be complete in 2027, according to Foxwoods, but this week is the first time that guests can access the upgraded rooms.
Also in the Fox Tower, Japanese-inspired restaurant Yamashiro has opened its doors. The brand began in Los Angeles and has also opened in Miami, but this is the first Yamashiro location in the Northeast.
Meanwhile, Foxwoods says it is also developing a new gaming Innovation Zone, featuring emerging technology in the gaming space, although it hasn’t yet given details of what it will feature.
“For a long time gaming was from a technology perspective a little bit behind other industries — that's really changed over the past several years,” Foxwoods CEO Jason Guyot told the Hartford Business Journal. “An innovation zone is going to bring products that guests that are playing online cannot experience.”
Foxwoods has continued to diversify its offerings in recent years as gaming has expanded in neighboring states, increasing competitive pressure on the resort.
The latest challenges have included online sports betting and new “prediction market” platforms, which allow users to buy and sell contracts based on whether specific events will occur.
In 2025, the casino partnered with Great Wolf Lodge to bring a 15-acre, 550-room indoor water park to the Mashantucket campus. It’s also recently added new restaurants including Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen. The Bedford by Martha Stewart will open in March.
“We've evolved and transformed it into a property that can now compete way outside of gaming,” Guyot said. “We're 9 million square feet, so we can do many things based on the size of the resort and the scope that our competitors couldn't do.”
