Foxwoods sees 11.4 pct. Dec. revenue spike

Foxwoods Resort Casino said its December slot revenue jumped 11.4 percent as an increase in customer traffic and holiday events helped fill the gaming company’s coffers.

Total slot revnue for the month rose to $50.2 million compared to $45.1 million a year earlier.

 Handle jumped 9.2 percent, topping $602.4 million compared to $551.7 million in December of last year.

The Casino contributed $13.7 million to the state based on the December figures.

“We experienced increases in customer traffic and revenues across all of our business lines, and our holiday events were very well attended,” said Foxwoods CEO Scott C. Butera. “Although we are still cautious about the current economic environment, we view this as a positive signal heading into the lunar New Year and our 20th Anniversary celebration events.”

Since its opening in 1992, Foxwoods has made a cumulative contribution to the state of Connecticut in excess of $3.29 billion.
