Two of Connecticut’s biggest tourism attractions — Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mystic Aquarium — have dealt themselves into a co-marketing, co-branding partnership they say aims to lure more visitors to the state.
The partnership details were sketchy Tuesday, but both say it involves Foxwoods buying naming rights to the 1,200-seat Marine Theater where the California sea lion show is held.
Members of Foxwoods’ frequent-visitor affinity programs also will receive discounted admission to the aquarium, as well as discounts at local hotels, restaurants and shops, authorities said.
Both say they will disclose more details at a Dec. 8 formal announcement to be held at 11 a.m. at the aquarium at 55 Coogan Blvd., just off I-95 in Stonington’s Mystic section.
“… We look forward to working with the Mystic Aquarium to explore collaborative opportunities to enrich our state,” Foxwoods President & CEO Scott Butera said in a statement.
Foxwoods and the MGM Grand Hotel-Casino are located about 15 miles northwest of the aquarium, on the Mashantucket Tribal Reservation near Ledyard.
