(This story and headline have been updated to include Mohegan’s slots results.)
July slot revenue at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket and Mohegan Sun in Uncasville declined 4.6 percent and 8.9 percent, respectively, the casinos reported today.
The two casinos’ 25 percent monthly contributions to the state’s coffers amount to $26 million, down from $27.8 million last July.
Foxwoods’ slots revenue fell from $51 million a year ago to $48.7 million, a drop the casino said it expected as a result of the increase in competition in Rhode Island and New York.
The total amount gambled on Foxwoods slots also dropped in July by 2.9 percent — $572.3 million vs. $589.4 million.
Mohegan’s slot revenue fell by $5.3 million compared to July 2012, ending at $54.6 million.
The casinos are required to report their slot revenue by the 15th of every month, but both released their results a day early.
