The former Hilton Theatre in New York’s Times Square is now the Foxwoods Theatre after the Connecticut resort casino obtained the naming rights of the 14-year-old facility on Broadway’s historic 42nd Street.
The terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed.
The high-profile naming-rights arrangement is the first major marketing deal under the watch of Robert Victoria, since his promotion to chief marketing officer for Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
In June, Foxwoods began putting its logo on uniforms of the WNBA’s New York Liberty basketball team.
In addition to giving the casino prominent signage in the exterior and interior of the theater, the deal provides Foxwoods access to the venue for corporate and charity events, as well as tickets to the theater’s show, which will soon include the show Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.
The highly anticipated, costly musical production of the superhero story includes music written by superband U2 and is directed by Julie Taymor, who rose to prominence with her direction of The Lion King.
The Foxwoods Theatre opened in 1996 on the site of the Apollo and Lyric theaters and seats 2,000.
