Foxwoods Casino announced today approximately 67 managers and other salaried staff are being laid off as part of a strategic realignment.
Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises, the Ledyard casino’s operator, said less than 1 percent of the overall staff is affected.
Idled employees not offered jobs elsewhere in the casino will receive unspecified severance benefits, the casino said.
Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwood recently reported its June revenue was $57.8 million, a 9.1 percent decrease compared with June 2008.
“Although the economic climate is certainly a factor,” said President Michael Speller, “we have been working on this programmatic and organizational restructuring for several months, and we’re confident that this is the right move at the right time.”
Officials did not immediately specify what job classifications are affected.
