Foxwoods extends NASCAR race sponsorship deal

Aiming to keep its name and brand top of mind for New England entertainment consumers, Foxwoods Resort and Casino said it has extended its sponsorship of an annual NASCAR Cup Series race in New Hampshire.

The casino on Monday said it extended its title sponsorship of New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s annual NASCAR Cup Series race through at least 2021. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The partners announced the continued sponsorship a day after Brad Keselowski won the third annual Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at the so-called “Magic Mile” speedway. The event was New England’s first major sporting event with fans since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, race officials said.

“From the start, we knew that teaming up with an established Northeast destination partner would be a win-win, and we certainly hit the jackpot in affiliating with Foxwoods Casino Resort,” said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Foxwoods and New Hampshire Motor Speedway first partnered in 2017 through a ticket incentive program. A year later, they signed a three-year deal that renamed the race after Foxwoods.

In Connecticut, Foxwoods officials in recent weeks said they rehired 2,000 furloughed employees as it reopened June 1.

The casino said it will continue administering temperature checks at the entrances and require that guests wear face masks and practice social distancing and use hand sanitizer stations throughout the property.
