Foxwoods adding kart racing to casino attractions

Foxwoods Resort Casino is continuing to expand its non-gaming attractions with the addition early next year of a European-style indoor karting center.

The Mashantucket Pequot tribe, owners and operators of the casino, are partnering with Wallingford indoor racing firm On Track Karting on the project.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Construction of the track, which will feature dramatic elevation changes and hairpin turns, is set to begin as September ends. The facility will be located under the Fox Tower garage which is adjacent to the Fox Tower, where the Fox Casino is.

The attraction would complement the Mashantucket Pequot tribe’s Foxwoods Thrill Tower and a new HighFlyer Zipline, said Felix Rappaport, Foxwoods’ CEO.

“Our goal is to continue to provide more fun and exciting reasons for guests to visit Foxwoods,” said Rappaport in a statement.

The multi-level track will feature gas-powered, nine-horsepower karts, Foxwoods said Sunday, when it made the announcement at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in advance of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ ISM Connect 300.
