The buyer is Van Wilgen Garden Mart, a family-owned garden center.
Just months after its closure, a former Smithland Supply Pet & Garden Center location in Southington will get new life.
The 19,410-square-foot building, at 1198 Queen St., has been sold to a Connecticut-based garden center chain for $3.2 million, according to New England Retail Properties Inc., which brokered the deal.
The buyer is Van Wilgen Garden Mart, a family-owned garden center that currently has locations in Branford, North Branford, Clinton, Old Saybrook and Guilford.
The seller was Trio Fund 1 CT Portfolio LLC, a New York-based investment group, which originally purchased the 5.1-acre property for $1.8 million in 2022, town records show.
Smithland Pet & Garden Centers, formerly known as Agway,
announced in May that it was closing all 13 of its locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
