Former Rockville Bank office in South Windsor sold to autism services provider for $1.8M

M&T Bank recently sold a 31,170-square-foot South Windsor office building formerly used by Rockville Bank to a provider of autism services for $1.8 million.

M&T came to possess the brick-veneer building at 1645 Ellington Road through a series of bank mergers culminating with its 2022 merger with People’s United Financial Inc.

M&T sold the roughly 23-year-old  building to NSW Noel LLC in a sale recorded by the town on April 19. The buying LLC is linked to Sallyz Center for Autism.

John M. McCormick and Anna M. Kocsondy of CBRE represented the seller. O,R&L Commercial represented the buyer.

NSW Noel principal Nickeisha Walker, of Ellington, is founder and director of Sallyz, which provides predominantly one-on-one services to children with autism, geared to those between 2 and 10 years of age.

Sallyz currently operates with a staff of about 30 out of a leased 4,500-square-foot space in a nearly adjacent, Stop & Shop-anchored shopping plaza at 491 Buckland Road.

“The current purpose is to make it a place where families and kids with special needs can come to have services that would be really, really beneficial for the community and those kids,” Walker said in a recent interview. “I think it would give that building, which is kind of a significant building in town, a purpose, a meaningful purpose. And it also would help to further realize the vision we have for Sallyz. It really worked out perfectly.”

The center, which can currently provide services to as many as 37 children, aims to eventually triple its capacity and staff with the large space. Walker said she plans to occupy the building’s first two floors by the end of July, and aims to lease out a portion of the third floor to another medical provider.

Walker said she plans to offer conference rooms on the third floor for short-term rentals for business meetings.

“If they don’t want to meet at the coffee shop, they can certainly come in and certainly have a really nice conference room that is beautiful,” Walker said.

The larger space will help Sallyz offer a broader range of services. In addition to current occupational therapy offerings, Walker expects to add speech therapy, social skills groups, family therapy and more.

“We hope to bring some life to the center of town,” Walker said. “We hope it will be a place for families to seek resources for their kids, basically a hub for resources for the family.”
