Former employees of Lumentum Operations LLC, located in Bloomfield – including on-site leased workers from Randstad – that worked with modulators, have been certified as eligible to apply for federal Trade Adjustment Assistance.
Lumentum announced at the end of January it was laying off 235 employees in Bloomfield as of Oct. 2016. The bulk of the layoffs –159 employees — will take place during the third quarter of 2016.
The state Labor Department is mailing an eligibility notice regarding the benefits to all affected employees and is providing information on how to apply for benefits. Employees eligible to apply for federal benefits are those who are or will be totally or partially separated from employment due to lack of work on or after Jan. 1, 2014 through March 10, 2018.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program is a federal program that provides a path for employment growth and opportunity through aid to U.S. workers who have lost their jobs as a result of foreign trade.
