A former top Lamont administration official has found a new job with the state’s largest health system.
Paul Mounds Jr., who served as chief of staff to Gov. Ned Lamont from February 2020 until the end of his first term in office, has taken a new role at Yale New Haven Health System, the Hartford Business Journal has confirmed.
His title is vice president of community and corporate alliances, Yale New Haven Health confirmed to HBJ.
The health system is expected to make a formal announcement about the hire in the coming days. No further information about the role was immediately available.
Mounds was one of the highest-profile advisors to Lamont throughout the Democratic governor’s first term, including during the pandemic. He joined the administration in January 2019 as chief operating officer.
Prior to that, he was vice president of policy and communications for the Connecticut Health Foundation. He also previously served as senior director of public policy and government relations for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
In Feb. 2020, Mounds was promoted to Lamont’s chief of staff, right before the pandemic dominated most of the governor’s remaining first term.
Mounds, a Trinity College alum, is a former HBJ 40 under Forty honoree.
