A nearly 30,000-square-foot Manchester building that until recently served as headquarters for engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill, recently went on the market.
Goman + York Property Advisors is advertising the 1910-vintage, two-story office building on 2.37 acres at 146 Hartford Road for sale or lease.
Thomas York, a principal of the firm, said the flexible building in the Cheney Brothers Mill district offers many alternatives. It originally served as an office building for a manufacturer, he said. But later it was used as a school, and could do so again. It could also house a restaurant, function hall or could be converted into apartments like several mills in the district, he said.
“We are looking at all kinds of uses,” York said. “It is very unique, with historic charm that we would like to see put back into service in a way the public could see it.”
Fuss & O’Neill recently moved to the 15th floor of downtown Hartford’s Gold Building office tower at 1 Financial Plaza. Timed with the company’s 100th anniversary, the move was part of a broader effort to relocate the firm’s New England offices into more vibrant urban areas, as a way to more easily attract employees.
The Manchester property’s current owner is a limited liability company whose principal is Brooklyn-based real estate investor Yisroel Rabinowitz. The property last sold for $2.3 million in 2019.
