Former Connecticut Bar Association building sells for $900,000

The former Connecticut Bar Association headquarters in New Britain recently sold for $900,000, according to the firm that negotiated the deal, as the buyer plans to transform the site into a market-rate apartment complex.

Representatives from New Britain-based Amodio & Co said the buyer, purchased the 26,324-square-foot, three-story office building at 30 Bank St. for $900,000 from CT Bar Institute Inc. According to city land records, the buyer is listed as 30 Bank Street LLC and principal Myer Kahan of Toms River, New Jersey.

The buyer plans to turn the building into an apartment building named “The Dream,” featuring 32 market rate residential apartments. Amodio & Co is assisting the Connecticut Bar Association in finding a new headquarters.

Kahan has been buying up properties in New Britain for the past several months. In March, the investor paid $1.06 million for a six-unit apartment building at 666 East St. and a five-unit mixed-use property at 1480 Corbin Ave.
