Former CL&P president lands Oregon job

Connecticut Light & Power’s former president and chief operating officer has joined an Oregon-based energy company as chief operating officer.

Innovari said William (“Bill”) Herdegen III will provide executive-management, customer service, and operational expertise as the company continues to expand its business globally.

An Eversource spokesman said Herdegen retired from the utility in May 2015. His departure was not announced by the utility at the time.

Innovari’s business revolves around delivering power over the electric grid at lower prices. Hergeden said he first worked with Innovari when he was a Kansas City utility executive.

Herdegen joined CL&P in Sept. 2012. He replaced Jeffrey Butler who resigned as CL&P president and chief operating officer in November 2011 after the utility faced widespread public criticism for a power outage caused by Tropical Storm Irene in Aug. 2011 and a separate outage caused by an Oct. 2011 snowstorm.
