Former Bob’s Discount Furniture store property sells for more than $3M

The former Bob’s Discount Furniture building on Boston Post Road in Orange has been sold for more than $3 million as new owners search for ideal retail tenants.

The 26,285-square-foot building sits at 515 Boston Post Road, along the busy commercial stretch.

The buyer, Orange-based 515 Boston Post Road Land Holdings LLC and principal Moad Kased, paid $3.16 million for the property from 515 Boston Post Road Associates and principal Robert Kaufman in a deal recorded March 7, according to town land records.

Kaufman is the founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture, which relocated from the building in October 2023, when the space became too small, according to Tyler Lyman, of TRUE Commercial Real Estate, who represented the buyer.

Bob’s Discount Furniture moved to another retail plaza at 560 Boston Post Road, Orange.

The two-story building at 515 Boston Post Road dates back to 1969 and features two elevators, 13-foot ceilings and 80 parking spaces.

The sellers were represented by Ken Ginsberg, commercial broker at Houlihan Lawrence Wareck D’Ostilio, which has offices in New Haven, Milford, Branford, Woodbridge and Old Saybrook.

Lyman said the new owners are marketing the property for a new commercial tenant, ideally a furniture retailer, but other businesses like a granite and stone retailer or home and garden outlet would be ideal.

The property previously traded hands in 2000 for $3.25 million, according to town property records.
