Former Access Health CT CEO Jim Wadleigh has been named chief operating officer of a New York provider of health insurance software.
Softheon, of Stoney Brook, N.Y., announced Tuesday it hired Wadleigh to expand its product offerings, broaden its customer base and improve operating efficiencies.
Wadleigh in April stepped down as CEO of Access Health, Connecticut’s Affordable Care Act health insurance exchange. Access Health last month named James Michel as Wadleigh’s official successor. Michel had been serving on an interim basis since June.
Softheon cloud-based software platforms enable benefit shopping, enrollment, billing and other capabilities to customers that include ACA exchanges, insurance brokers, government agencies and others.
In a statement, the company credited Wadleigh with helping to slash Connecticut’s uninsured population in half during his tenure at Access Health CT, in addition to lowering healthcare costs and reducing health disparities.
