The echoes barely faded from its recent Travelers Championship tourney in Cromwell, the insurer is expanding its golf-course liability coverage beyond protecting course operators against errant tee shots or lightning strikes.
The New York property-casualty insurer with operations in Hartford says its revamped Eagle 3 course liability coverage will now include policyholder coverage against food poisoning at the course restaurant or snack bar.
It also extends errant-shot coverage on autos to include other property damage.
Travelers says the PGA Tour and more than 1,000 U.S. golf facilities have its Eagle 3 coverage.
The expanded coverage already is approved in 39 states, including Connecticut, with the rest — except California — due to be approved by Sept. 1, the insurer said.
