Forbes: CT women among highest U.S. female pay earners

If you’re a woman in the workforce, Connecticut is the place to be for a top paying job, according to Forbes Magazine.

The business publication unveiled Monday its list of U.S. cities where women earn the most money, and three Connecticut cities were in the top 20.

Bridgeport, Hartford and New Haven were ranked fourth, seventh, and 13th for how well women in those regions are paid. Forbes said the high concentration of financial services jobs give woman in the Nutmeg State higher earning power, allowing some Connecticut cities to edge out Boston and New York City.

Despite the good news, however, the Forbes analysis also shows that woman in Connecticut are still getting paid less than their male counterparts.

Women in Bridgeport, for example, had average earnings of $63,553 in 2010, which was 53.8 percent of an average man’s salary.
