Foodshare’s “Turkey and a Thirty” program reached its goal two days ahead of its deadline, meaning the nonprofit received enough turkeys to provide Thanksgiving dinner for 16,188 Greater Hartford individuals and families.
That’s the first time Foodshare reached its goal ahead of deadline since the recession in 2008.
Foodshare also received $511,540 to help feed families all year long.
“I hope this is a sign of good things to come,” said James Arena-DeRosa, Foodshare president and CEO. Large-scale donations flocked in from local businesses like Billy Grant Restaurant Group, Macca Plumbing, C&S Wholesale, Wakefern (Shoprite), HomeGoods and Hoffman Auto Group.
