Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley tells The Associated Press he’s not ready to concede the race, saying his campaign wants to make sure the latest poll numbers out of Bridgeport are accurate.
Foley said Friday he doesn’t have an opinion as to whether he may be ahead of Democrat Dan Malloy in the count, given the uncertainty of the election results.
Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said Friday that Malloy received 17,800 votes in the city, with 4,075 for Foley, giving Malloy a clear lead in the statewide race.
Foley says the count in Bridgeport “has been moving around so much.”
Foley says he’s not seeking a recount at this point. When asked if his campaign planned a legal challenge, he said “we’d have to look at what’s in these numbers first.”
