FM Facility Maintenance in Hartford has signed with Rent-A-Center to provide management services for its 3,000 stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
Under the agreement, FM will provide services, including plumbing and electrical services and cleaning programs for all Rent-A-Center stores. FM will also manage capital projects for Rent-A-Center store locations.
Texas-based Rent-A-Center, which leases electronics, appliances, computers and furniture to consumers, says it signed the deal to centralize its maintenance activity and reduce costs.
Terms were not disclosed.
“By leveraging FM’s strengths, we will greatly simplify our store managers’ responsibilities, improve the consistency of our customer experience, and enhance visibility of expenses while lowering overall maintenance costs through guaranteed savings,” said Trey Feiler, vice president of store development for Rent-A-Center.
FM, formerly known as Integrated Process Technologies, was acquired in 2004 by Connecticut entrepreneur Jim Barnes, founder of East Hartford-based Oakleaf. Barnes is currently the chairman of the company, while Jim Reavey is the CEO.
FM also handles facility maintenance for 7-Eleven, Outback Steakhouse, ExxonMobil, Goodyear Tires and Dollar General.
