A Florida-based real estate investment firm has acquired the property housing the Mayflower Inn & Spa in Washington for $5.3 million, according to land records.
DoveHill, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, announced Tuesday that it has taken ownership of the Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Collection, a 35-room property set on 58 acres in the Litchfield Hills about 90 minutes from New York City.
The property, located at 118 Woodbury Road, includes a 20,000-square-foot spa called The Retreat, two dining venues — The Garden Room and The Tap Room — and gardens.
The recorded sale price reflects the real estate transaction listed in land records and may not include the value of the hotel’s operating business.
Jake Wurzak, DoveHill’s founder and CEO, said the firm plans to improve the property while preserving its character.
DoveHill said in the announcement that it bought the property because wealthy travelers continue to seek out nearby luxury escapes they can reach by car.
Auberge Collection, a luxury hotel management company, will continue to manage the Mayflower under the new ownership arrangement.
The Mayflower Inn & Spa property previously traded hands in 2013 for $9.5 million, property records show.
The property also went into foreclosure in 2011, records show.
